Last week, students waited in the hallway for Chef Kearon to confirm their reservation in the library's Book Bistro. For the next 30 minutes, they moved from table to table sampling and reviewing books in a variety of genres. Biographies and informational books were at Table 1, while Table 2 featured fantasy and adventure stories. At other tables they were able to taste historical fiction, realistic fiction, family stories and school stories. They kept track of their feelings about books they sampled during each "course." Classroom teachers Mrs. Spina, Mrs, Dentato, and Mrs. Kawasaki encouraged their students to keep an open mind when trying genres they had never read before, just as they have done when trying new foods. Other classes are making reservations now for the next Library Bistro!

In order to stimulate her students' interest in geography and the continents, Ms. Rosenberg brought her 3rd grade class to the library to examine globes and atlases and create a list of questions they have about the landforms on Earth.
